I had a personal Gmail account (which is through Google), before creating my Blogger account (at www.blogger.com), so I did not need to create another Gmail account. The powerpoints were helpful in setting up my Blogger account, since I could go back and forth from the powerpoint to the set-up screen and work through each step. At first, I was not sure whether to use a limited profile or a "plus" profile for Blogger. I decided to use the limited profile, since I was not comfortable submitting my full birthday to have a "plus" profile.
In this course, AED 200, I expect to learn what things can be considered art, how art is made, some of the conventional ways of creating some forms of art, and some methods of critiquing artwork, analyzing it, and interpreting its meanings. I will learn about the history of art (its creation, purposes, and recipients). I also expect to learn some ways in which the internet can be used to display one's personal artwork. I look forward to exploring three art galleries in the Buffalo area and becoming familiarized with some of the artwork displayed in them. I will create some artwork using a variety of materials.
I have taken an online course through Buffalo State College in the past. I enjoyed the flexibility of schedule that it allowed. I appreciated being able to work from home on my computer. Online courses help familiarize students with technologies. They motivate students to be very active with the coursework, because active involvement is essential for understanding and accessing assignments. Students must have a plan to access their online coursework, which requires responsibility and preparation. Students are often required to read more than they would in a traditional course, because they do not have a teacher to verbally present information. Even though students do not see one another in person, they are still able to interact and learn from each other. Online courses allow for flexibility while providing a good challenge for students.
